the right to good health

Physical health and mental wellbeing shouldn’t be dependent on where you live and what you earn, but it is.

Health inequalities exist and were made worse by the pandemic. It’s a sad reflection on society that many in our community have to deal with the effects of health inequalities on a daily basis.

We want to play our part in changing this.

at the core of what we do

The Bridge has been supporting women's health and wellbeing since it was formally set up in 1932. Today, we’re guided by a vision for the future and a solid set of principles that stem from the pioneering work of the women who laid the foundations.

Our vision is a society where equity is the norm, where all women’s voices are heard, and where their health and wellbeing rights are respected and met.

We work to get there by:

  • co-creating spaces and opportunities for women to share their life experiences, where everyone’s voices are welcomed and heard;

  • co-designing and running women-led transformative projects, connecting communities and dismantling individual and structural barriers to health and wellbeing;

  • collaborating with like-minded organisations to amplify women’s voices to create change;

  • providing services and facilities to support women’s health and wellbeing.

values: respect, inclusivity, empowerment, integrity, sustainability, holistic approach

We work in the community with local women to overcome barriers and make healthy living an integral part of everyday life. We know that our programmes and services work and we have that on good authority – that of the people who use them.

the impact we’re making

The focus of our work remains on reducing health inequalities and on preventing and minimising risks to both physical and mental health. To achieve this, we have set two main priorities via our ‘impact goals’. All of the projects we run and the decisions we take as an organisation are shaped by these commitments.
