“The Bridge is a friendly and welcoming organising and it was clear to see how much the DINE club positively impacts all the customers who attend. The space was welcoming and the staff were lovely. The work we did was very fun and hands on which is a great way to get involved.”

Mott MacDonald DINE volunteer

DINE chef

Volunteers needed on the first Thursday of each month between 16:00-21:00.

There’s flexible commitment with this role; support at one DINE or multiple DINEs.

We’re looking for chefs or people interested in cooking who have experience preparing and cooking food for large groups of people to support us our DINE supper clubs. DINE serves plant-based food on a pay-what-you-can model to make eating out healthy, accessible and affordable.

We’re looking for experienced kitchen volunteers to lead as Head Chef, curating a menu for the evening and running the kitchen.

You’ll be:

  • working in a small friendly team to cook 30+ two course meals

  • ensuring food hygiene standards are adhered to

  • preparing and cooking food

  • plating the meals

Due to the nature of the role, you’ll need to:

  • be a confident cook with experience working or volunteering in a kitchen serving at least 30 people

  • have an excellent understanding of food hygiene safety standards and requirements

“…thank you for such a wonderful supper night on Thursday last week. It is honestly one of the best and most rewarding things I've ever done and it made me feel so grateful to do what I do.”

ROOBARB’S (guest chef at DINE)

HUB project activity lead

Volunteers needed for a minimum of three workshops on different Wednesdays anytime between 10:00-17:00.

Workshops could all take place across one month or could be spread-out monthly on a more ongoing basis, depending on what works for you.

We’re looking for local groups, organisations or individuals interested in running physical, creative, learning or social activities or talks for our HUB project. The HUB project provides a warm, welcome and safe space for people to take part in a range of activities, whilst connecting with others. The activities are centered around improving mental wellbeing and developing community cohesion, whilst reducing the impacts of the cost of living crisis.

Examples of activities that our community have expressed an interest in are:

  • Repair shops

  • Making jewellery

  • Music sessions, such as a singing or ukulele

  • Poetry sessions

  • Cooking classes, such as making marinades

  • Natural body care, such as making body lotions, perfumes, make-up, and learning how to massage using natural ingredients

  • Talks on gender equality, climate change and topics relating to women’s health and well-being

Alternatively, if you’re an organisation that runs similar services, we’d like to invite you to come and talk to our community about your work and how they can get involved.

volunteer counsellor

Volunteers needed every Wednesday 10:00–11:30

As many of our projects have a strong mental health and wellbeing component, we’re always looking for counsellors/therapists (training or qualified) who want to volunteer and gain practical experience of working in a community setting.

Currently we’re looking for someone to support the supervision of our drop-in sessions that run every Wednesday from 10:00–11:30. They’re a non-judgemental space, where we’ll chat about the topics that are important to our community.

If you’re interested in volunteering and would like to have a chat about how you could be involved, we’d love to hear from you.

gardening club

Volunteer needed first Wednesday of every month, from 11:30–13:00

(currently postponed)

We’re looking for two volunteers to join us in the maintenance of our small community garden and occasionally caring for our indoor plants. We’ll take volunteers on first-come first-served basis.

Things we might be doing in the garden in the next two sessions: winter friendly sowing / mulching / weeding / watering / general garden maintenance.

Each session will end with a free lunch in our lovely café.

Thank you for considering volunteering at The Bridge. We can cover transport expenses, if needed. We look forward to hearing from you. If you can’t find exactly what you’re looking for, please still reach out and we’d love to explore opportunities with you.
