The Bridge can keep you out of trouble.
We know there are fitness goals that many have attempted and few have actually achieved, so we challenge you to take on one exercise today.
Lie down... and tackle a few super simple 'Bridge poses'.
Why? This simple exercise can be done no matter your fitness level, and it is considered therapeutic for stress reduction. It strengthens your core, and is even said to relieve backache and strengthen the spine.
No excuses; The Bridge Pose: Follow our five steps below:
Dede gets into the correct “Bridge” starting position
Step 1: Lie on the floor, and if necessary, place a thickly folded blanket under your shoulders to protect your neck. Bend your knees and set your feet on the floor, heels as close to your bottom as possible.
Step 2: Exhale and, pressing your feet and arms actively into the floor, push your tailbone upward, firming the buttocks, and lift the buttocks off the floor. Keep your thighs and feet parallel.
Step 3: Lift your bottom until the thighs are about parallel to the floor. Keep your knees directly over the heels, but push them forward, away from the hips, and lengthen the tailbone toward the backs of the knees..
Step 4: Lift your chin, try to tilt the breastbone toward the chin, broaden the shoulder blades, and try to lift the space between them at the base of the neck (where it's resting on the blanket) up into your body.
Step 5: Stay in the pose anywhere from 30 seconds to 1 minute. Release with an exhalation, rolling the spine slowly down onto the floor.
Now you are ready to take on the day, repeat the exercise, 5, 10 or 30 times, build up gradually.
